You might not know this, but I’m in a long-distance relationship. It’s been going well for over a year now and we’re still happy together. In the past, I’ve always said that I would never be able to do it because of all the challenges you face as a couple when living apart from each other; however, there are plenty of pros and only some cons that come with being in a long-distance relationship. The first thing I think of when I hear ‘long-distance relationship’ is a couple who only sees each other every so often. This isn’t the case for me at all! In fact, we see each other about once a month and talk to each other daily over phone or through video chat. We don’t have any set days that we meet up on either because it just doesn’t work out with our schedules sometimes; however, this has never been an issue since he lives in New York while I live in California; we make the most of what time we do get together and enjoy ourselves fully during those weeks.
The next thing that comes to mind is how hard it must be to not physically touch your partner/significant other day after day. This is definitely a challenge, but it’s not impossible to get through. We work hard to plan dates that will be memorable and fun for the both of us during our rare times together; we want these experiences to last forever so they’re always fresh in our minds when he’s all the way on the other side of country from me!
Not being able to see each other day after day can make you feel lonely sometimes, even if your significant other lives with you or somewhere nearby.
