If you’re a tenant, there may come a time when you have to deal with an annoying landlord. First and foremost, always remember that you have rights as a tenant. No matter how annoying or difficult your landlord may be, they cannot just evict you without cause. If they do try to evict you without cause, you can fight it in court and likely win. However, if you have done something to violate your lease agreement (such as not paying rent), then they may have a case against you and an eviction could happen.
If your landlord is constantly asking for rent even though you’ve already paid, the best thing to do is keep records of all payments made. This way, if it ever goes to court, you will have proof that you’ve been paying on time and in full. You can also ask for a receipt each time you make a payment, just to be extra safe.
If your landlord is always making repairs without your consent, it’s important to know that they are not allowed to just enter your unit whenever they please. In most cases, they must give you at least 24 hours’ notice before entering. If they don’t do this, you can call the police and file a complaint.
Finally, if your landlord is just downright rude, there’s not much you can do about that unfortunately. However, you can try to avoid them as much as possible and document any incidents of rudeness (or even harassment) in case it ever goes to court.
